Sometimes we need to be a bit creative with how we structure our website. I have had several occasions where I needed a menu item that was just text and did not link anywhere, and item that had drop-down links but the main item itself was not a link.
Did you know this was a thing? Yep! For this WordPress Wednesday tip I want to show you how to do this.
Adding a placeholder menu item that is NOT a clickable link in WordPress
- To accomplish this, you will navigate to Appearance > menus and open or create a new menu.
- Now you will click on the Custom Link option and replace the pre-populated text with #
- Tile your menu item and add it to your menu
- Now you will drag it into the place you want it in your menu and reposition your sub menu items below and to the right of your custom menu item that you just created.
That is how you can simply add a text link in your menu that is not clickable but offers direction to your visitors!
